SUSHANT'S TIME SLAP — A THREAD — •NOT MAKING IT TOO LONG BECAUSE SUSHANT VISITED US ALL (A VERY *VERY).

Navratri : Festival where Feminine power (Shakti) is worshiped It is a gentle reminder that women carry the divine strength in them and how important their balance is in the world. The nine forms of Goddess Durga, also called Navadurga, each represent one specific aspect of lif and universe. Be it Shailaputri, the one who signifies purity or Siddhidatri, known for blessing knowledge and wisdom — each form of Durga blesses her followers in some unique way. 🌸

This is specific to the time of Durga Puja during which every individual believes in the power of gods to bring about change, and hence why I had targeted Durga as it was a religious symbol as well. Its because of the mammoth rituals and festivals that take place with a fervor to show respect toward the goddess and her divine force as well. The festival offers an opportunity to pause, and to gather together in honour of the power of women and the success of light over dark. 🌞

How Is Navratri Celebrated? 🎊

In every region of India, Navratri is a traditional festival that comes with its own cultural flavor. The festival is characteristic of energetic Garba and Dandiya dances in Gujarat. People in thousands join hand to perform these traditional dances wearing bright costumes. While in northern states, people observe fasts and offer prayers to their ancestors' soul as they believe spirits of the dead can come back to the world of living during this period which is known as 'Shraddh'. 🙌

Durga Puja in eastern India especially Kolkata, West Bengal – Navratri is synonmous with Durga Puja. Colossal, elaborately crafted idols of Goddess Durga are sculpted and offer prayer in gorgeously adorned pandals. While being a religious type of celebration, Durga Puja is also what a social and cultural event means. It is a time when persons from all walks of life unite with the music, dance, food and festivity. 🌈

Rituals: Several elaborate rituals are performed during Durga Puja to welcome Goddess Durga. These prayers include the Saptami, Ashtami, and Navami pujas where devotees offer flowers, fruits and sweets to the goddess. It ends on Dashami, when the idols of goddess Durga is immersed in waters of rivers or lakes signaling her return to celestial abode. 🌊

Fasting and feasting During Navratri 🍽️

Many of the devotees fast during Navratri. The fasting was likely different according to people, but in general terms consisted in abstaining from meat and grains, with certain vegetables. Instead, they fast eating a light meal of fruits, dairy and special fasting foods like sabudana (tapioca pearls) and kuttu (buckwheat flour). Fasting is considered a purification of the body and soul so that one can become more spiritually perfect. 💫

But during the Navratri, there are also a variety of dishes. Once the fast is over feasts are prepared to reverberate the goddess victory. All around the state of West Bengal, Durga Puja is just not complete without its huge feast, which includes items like Bhog (food offered to the goddess), khichuri, sandesh and how can we forget rosogolla. The spirit of Navratri and Durga Puja specializes in devotion to gratitude later for the goddess. 🍛

The role of women During Navratri

Navratri is a women-centric festival, and a large number of women participate in the celebrations. In some religious sects, Kanya i.e. young girls are worshipped as the goddess during these days. It is believed that they are special and some rituals are performed which are called Kanya Pujan, they are offered new clothes, food and blessings. This is symbolic of the deeply ingrained belief in the feminine divine spirit. 🌹

Durga Puja — From decorating pandals to offering aarti, women are celebrating the festival everywhere They are also invaluable for putting together the decorative rangolis, lighting up lamps, as well as preparing offerings to the goddess. Navratri and Durga Puja stand as a testimony of the power, resilience and tenacity of women in the society. 🌷
